Happy Canadian Thanksgiving and ...oh... Happy World Mental Health Day!! :) :)

Hello and Happy Monday, everyone!

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians!! What do you mean: "What's Thanksgiving??" ... Quick! Check out my post from five years ago and find out why we Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving!
(Freaky fact: My post from 2011 for Thanksgiving fell on the same calendar day (10/10) as this year!!!)

As I was scrolling down my News Feed on Facebook, I came across this post from Action for Happiness.

"Today is World Mental Health Day. Let's spread the word about the practical things we can all do to improve our wellbeing"

Did you know there was a "World Mental Health Day"? Because I surely didn't!!

So, Mental Health First Aid is an educational course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health issue. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health.

To learn more about Mental Health Day and Mental Health First Aid, please visit their web-site at: mhfaengland.org

Let's list the 10 Key Elements for a happier life, according to the image provided by MHFA, shown above.

1. Giving (helping and sharing with others)
2. Relating (strengthening connections with people)
3. Awareness (being aware of yourself and your wellbeing)
4. Exercising (finding an activity that suits you and sticking to it)
5. Trying out (learning or taking on new things / skills)
6. Resilience (being capable of recovering from something and staying positive)
7. Direction (working towards a goal and always moving forward!)
8. Acceptance (accepting what you can or can not do or what you have or do not have)
9. Meaning (giving meaning to your life brings you happiness!)
10. Emotions (trying to stay positive and building optimism!)

What do you think? Do you feel that these constitute a happier life? Is there anything else you believe should be added to this list?

Have a wonderful day and stay positive!
Smile! :)
